Bardeux-When We Kiss
With news that the new Chromatics album is finally being released on Vinyl, I'd thought I'd share something not too dissimilar from Johnny Jewel's output. I first discovered this track on the most flawless blog on the planet Beat Electric (who have started repressing some seriously rare shit) a couple of years ago. My appreciation for this track was rekindled was by this excellent mix from Nick Acid Tree (who I have had the privilege to play with before) on the excellent Emotional Pop website that was shared recently. It was the only track I recognised as Nick's mixes are always sort of the shit that you want, that you don't have and can probably never find! A serious digger.

Girls Against Boys-She's Lost Control
Remember seeing this belter of a cover version on Alternative Nation back in the mid 90s. What a show that was. Who even watches MTV anymore? After the shite of Oasis, I was at pains to delve into Mancunian music too much and relied heavily instead on underground and not so underground alternative music from the other side of the pond. A cover version that delivers.

Pigon-Beau Monde
It suddenly morning when you listen to this track. The last ten hours of your life are suddenly a distant memory, and all that's left is you.

Headphones-Gas and Matches
David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) has been a steady fave of mine for well over a decade. Pleasingly his back catalogue is getting remastered and repressed on vinyl. His short-loved electronic project 'Headphones' is an album I return to often. Opener 'Gas & Matches' opens the door of cynism and bleakness with a bloody tale of revenge. Fucking people over comes back to haunt you eventually.
