Smallpeople-Little River
I have noted on here before I've got a soft spot for the sort of German melodic deep house that sometimes feel like it's so laid back it might fall over. (usually anything on Smallville). So upon another Monday and another mighty fine Resident Advisor podcast; this time from Michael Mayer, I discover another belter of the same ilk (there's plently-give it a go here) with Smallpeople's Little River.

Fleetwood Mac-Oh Well Part 2
Before Stevie Nicksstarted blowing coke up her arse, there was the other Fleetwood Mac namely Peter Green's psyhedelic vehicle. When Iisten to this it sounds like an imagined soundtrack to a desolate road journey towards an unknown potentially disturbing existence. Something pretty bleak anyway.

Clara Mondshine-Die Drachentrommler (Dragon Drums)
Early experimental electronic aceness that was a highlight from Ron Morelli's recent Test Pressing mix. The speed might be out, but who cares. Love records that can be played at both speeds.

Mount Eerie-With My Hands Out
A near perfect collection of personal songs by the relentless Phil Elverum. For all of the new/reimagined music that he has released, he couldn't possibly ever top 'Dawn'. Got me through some tough times. I once again need it's help.

Moonstarr-Detriot
Organic, 'Detroit'-inspired House/Techno from Canada with a heavy hectic breakdown included for good measure. This belter came out on Sonar Kollektiv way back in 2004. Still a great fucking label, consistently produces and those Jazznova/Ame Mixing CDs are timeless.

Leder Brothers-I'd Like to Touch A Star
This slice of Californian blue eyed soul surfaced for contemporary ears earlier this year on this ace compilation on Numero Group that I finally got my hands on recently; just in time for autumn.

Evgeny Light-Public Library Square
Serious vibe from Russia that was on fellow countryman Anton Zap's Little White Earbuds podcast from last year; a mix that stood head and shoulders above the saturated podcast fodder that now exists.

Lowgold-Mercury
Once shared a pack of Hob Nobs with a couple members of this band when they supported Grandaddy back in 2000. Was in some Leeds shithole; might have been the Cockpit, my memory fails me. Don't listen to this near your lowest ebb.

The Smashing Pumpkins-Soothe
Remember trying to save up some serious paper round money to get this when I was a kid. It was available at the time on import and in HMV it was about 17 quid or something ridiculous. I got a bit lucky and picked it up in Vinyl Exchange for a bit less complete with promo blurb stickers attached to it, albeit only several months before it was released properly. Some of my favourite songs ever written are on it. Including this.

Sensations Fix-Fragments of Light
I share something different to start the week with; a bit of Italian cosmic prog form the 1970s. A mammoth retrospective has just come out entitled 'Music is Painting in the Air' has just been released on RVNG Intl. Certainly worth picking up if it's your kind of thing. Only with the last few years excessive determination to discover all that has gone before (and repress it) this is music that was probably destined to be out of print forever.

Yo La Tengo-Gentle Hour
No one does covers like Yo La Tengo. A new album of their own material will be dropping in the new year, marking their 28th year as a band. This track is off 'Dark Was the Night' an ace double CD charity compilation produced by the Dessner twins from the National from a few years back. No words can come close to describe how beautiful this is.
